Mary Downey has been a leader in the nonprofit community for more than 13 years. She has a BA from Trinity University and a MBA from Our Lady of the Lake University. Following a successful career in trust banking and investment management, Mary transferred her experience and expertise to the charitable sector.

In 1999, she formed a private company to support the fundraising programs of non-profit organizations. Downey Associates, LLC (formerly Cascada Group) specializing in resource development, fundraising, and the creation, management and assessment of planned giving programs. Her clients have included the Cancer Therapy &
Research Center, Our Lady of the Lake University, The Children's Shelter, Trinity University, CASA Texas, Family Service Association and  other area nonprofits.

Mary has a broad knowledge of the nonprofit community and has served on the executive board of the Planned Giving Council of San Antonio for over 8 years and as its president in 2004 - 2006. In 2008, she will take on the responsibilities of President Elect of the San Antonio chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Her other affiliations and community activities include:
