With a diverse background in non-profit management and grant writing, Kris Westerson, brings an uncanny sense of comprehensive understanding to each project she is associated with. Able to assess each project from many perspectives, she can communicate through writing the breadth and strength of each program and organization to potential funders. Successful in grant writing in the cultural and social service sector, in the last two years, Westerson has written grants which raised almost $2M for those organizations.

In her experience with cultural arts organizations in Texas and California over the past twelve years, she knows every aspect of the organization. From collections to fundraising and management, her scope of understanding of each position in a cultural arts organization is unparallel because she has done that work. Grant writing for the oldest and one of the largest social services organizations in San Antonio she has written successful grants from small private foundations to large and complicated state RFP documents. A foray into the for profit world for two years involved successfully opening and staffing the Texas regional office for the largest art moving company in the country. Previous experience includes ten years in retail management and marketing.

An exhibited photographer, Westerson has taught adult docents, college students and presented at state-wide conferences. She was selected for Master Teacher training at the Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth, and was awarded the Texas Commission of the Arts Curatorial Apprenticeship at the University of North Texas Art Gallery, Denton.

A bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and post baccalaureate work in Museum Education and Art History provide a foundation to develop succinct and comprehensive proposals.

Raised in northern Minnesota, Westerson currently lives in the Texas Hill Country.
